The design of policies and actions aimed at preventing and addressing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) requires an understanding of the characteristics and geographical distribution of the populations affected by this practice. Using data from the municipal registry, the FGM map of Spain provides a way to quantify and locate the migrant female population from countries where FGM is practiced. This unique tool enables the development of policies and preventive actions, offering guidance to those who seek to turn intercultural challenges into opportunities for growth while contributing to the defense of the rights of women and girls. First developed in 2001, the map is now in its fourth update (2006, 2010, 2013, and 2020-2021).
